We are in!

Filed under: General — Kurt @ 7:53 am

Akane, Kent, Diamond, and I are now living in our house. It is feeling more like home everyday. We have a Japanese bath and an American kitchen. The rest of the house is a mix of Japanese-Eastern and American-Western styles. As Akane sees it, she has the best of both worlds. (Whew!)

If it was not for the help of Nagoya Nishi Church and Akane’s parents, we would not be able to get this house finished to this point. The second floor still has to be finished. Nevertheless, I am glad we are to this point.

The Big “M”

Filed under: General — Kurt @ 1:43 am

Hi everyone! Sorry I have not updated this website for a while!

I have a funny story for you! A little while ago, the family and I went shopping. After a few hours, I needed to relieve myself. Most foreigners in Japan know that McDonald’s has western style toilets. The eastern style is, more or less, a hole in the floor with plumbing.

So, I said to the family, “I need to go to McDonald’s.” After explaining the benefits, the family understood why I needed to walk across the street while they shopped. Later, Akane said to me, “That big sign, the M is not really an M, but a big American butt!”
